Launch is a career activation program led by our partners at The Lawrence Advisory, a premier leadership development organization.
Launch prepares Emma Bowen seniors to enter the workforce through group and individual mentoring, interview prep, job search guidance, and more. Rising seniors are introduced to the program at our Annual Summer Conference and receive support throughout their final year in school until their job search is completed.
Tracy L. Lawrence
Founder & CEO
The Lawrence Advisory
Tracy L. Lawrence is the Founder and CEO of The Lawrence Advisory. The Lawrence Advisory is known for hiring, coaching and building high-performing teams with an emphasis on innovation and performance. Lawrence was recently named the first Executive- in-Residence at USC’s Marshall School of Business.
Prior to launching The Lawrence Advisory, Tracy Lawrence led the Los Angeles based Consumer and Entertainment practice at Russell Reynolds Associates, one of the world’s largest recruiting and assessment firms. Previously, Lawrence served as General Manager of Fox Family Channel, leading the cable network until its sale to The Walt Disney Company for more than five billion dollars, the largest price ever paid for a cable network. Lawrence uses her real-world expertise to advise Fortune 500 companies, private equity firms, asset management companies, media and technology companies, and non-profits in creating teams that drive growth and performance.
She has held leadership roles at Viacom, Kraft, Nestle, and PWC. Lawrence is the Founder of Digital Diversity Network, a DDN is a non-profit trade association whose mission is to advance diversity, create access & champion inclusion within the digital and technology sectors.
Lawrence frequently speaks about her “hire//build//lead” model of organizational development, which focuses on incorporating strategic goals into the hiring process for long term sustainability. Stanford University, Harvard Business School, the Aspen Institute and University of Southern California are among the places where Lawrence has lectured and shared her experience and knowledge.
Lawrence earned her BA in Economics from Stanford University and her MBA from Harvard Business School.
Kathy A. Johnson
Principal
The Lawrence Advisory
Kathy A. Johnson manages executive search and consulting activity as a Principal at The Lawrence Advisory. To this role, Johnson brings extensive leadership experience from both the corporate and non-profit sectors, and a track record of success in building organizational capacity, infrastructure, and programs to drive workforce diversity. This background combined with her broad professional network allows Kathy to deliver excellent results to clients from all sectors.
Johnson previously led sales and marketing teams at Black Entertainment Television, Disney Channel and Times Mirror Cable Television. Most recently, she was President of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), the premier professional association focused on multi-ethnic diversity in the cable television industry.
Throughout her career, Johnson has demonstrated commitment to the field of diversity and inclusion. She played a leadership role in the founding of Digital Diversity Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the tech sector, with corporate partners including Facebook, Google, Salesforce, Time Warner, Comcast, and Airbnb. In addition, Johnson served on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the American Society of Association Executives and the Advisory Board for Accenture’s Business Leadership Forum for African-American and Hispanic Executives. Johnson has also been a member of the Diversity Advisory Board for the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. Johnson is a Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management Fellow. Johnson earned her BS in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University and her MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
